One character who won't be returning in the same capacity is Eddie Munson, Joseph Quinn's beloved, who died at the end of season four after helping the crew defeat Vecna. However, Stranger Things is the world of the Duffers, and the audience lives only in that world.

for those who survive the fourth season, and we can never rule out the possibility of a cameo or flashback from another world. It seems Quinn herself hasn't ruled out a return.
At the premiere of A Quiet Place: Day One, in which he stars alongside Lupita Nyong'o, the Fantastic Four star tried to be coy when asked if he would return. "I guess nothing's impossible. I don't know," he said with a wry smile.
