EA will release EA Sports College Football 25 on July 19. Early access begins on July 16, 2024. You can pre-order the Deluxe Edition or MVP Bundle to get early access. Since it's a brand new game, it's probably best to try to answer or at least “pen” various questions that get asked a lot on the site and in forums.
Dynasty Mode College Football 25
I spent my first six hours after receiving the review copy of the game on Dynasty Mode. It's my personal bread-and-butter game format and where I will spend most of my time in the future. It was also a part of the game that I hadn't tested before.
I have to give the highest praise to Dynasty mode. It's deep and intricate, but not overwhelming. If you're big on recruitment, you have a lot to work with. If you don't want to recruit, you can select “Simple” at the beginning of the dynasty and let the CPU handle it automatically.
You already know the three coach archetypes: Motivator, Tactician and Recruiter. The different skill points in this part of the game that come with that choice weren't something I noticed, so your opinion of the feature may vary. You can edit your coach's name and background while you're in Dynasty, so don't worry if you want to change it later.
Growing up, my Dynasty strategy was to take a program with two-star prestige or lower and work my way up, so I chose USF, which has 1.5-star prestige, a great recruiting backfield, and in my eyes a huge short-term upside with quarterback Byrum Brown. As a kid, my group of friends simulated games instead of playing them, but it became clear over three seasons that this approach limits your upside in this game. Although over the course of three seasons I was able to recruit one of the top G5 recruiting classes each year, my team rating remained the same and my record continued to hover around 6-6. If you decide to play a game, you can play the whole game, just the offense, just the defense, or “play the moments” where you take over big third and fourth down plays before the simulation resumes.
