Leslye Headland says she doesn't know if there will be a season 2 or not
Reported by Nerdist, Leslye Headland, showrunner of The Acolyte (2024) said that he doesn't know if the series will come with season 2. Although he acknowledged there was talk of a season 2.
"I don't know. Well, I don't know. I can say there is talk (about season 2). And I don't know when it's going to happen. I don't know when that decision will be made," she explained.
Leslye reveals not an open ending, but could pave the way for season 2?
On the other hand, Lesley emphasized that she would never leave an open ending for the audience. When asked about the mystery of Osha and Mae's birth, Lesley said that it would be answered in the first season. Meanwhile, if there is a season 2, they will reveal another mystery.
"We won't leave the audience hanging. In a series like this, you take a lot of risks, you can't save questions like that for season two. There are a lot of things we can save for season two," Lesley explained to Nerdist.

The appearance of Master Yoda and Darth Plagueis, the Sith Master of Emperor Palpatine does make it easier if the series has a sequel. In addition, Lesley also asked viewers to pay attention to other things after watching the ending of episode 8.
"I would say maybe you missed something important when you started the argument about it, it's better to be curious about the powers that may have existed in the world long before Anakin's (Darth Vader) presence," the showrunner concluded.
