RTG is both scaled down and scaled up, and I really like the final product. Gone is the high school stage where you play a season to find out how good you are. Instead, you start by choosing your level, from a two-star to a five-star. Personally, I like it because it allows you to get to the fun stuff and makes RTG accessible to more people. EA Sports told me that the developers just didn't have enough room for the high school level, and that was a part that was left on the cutting room floor. I don't mind it staying there, although I know a lot of people want it back.

Each week you go through a drill, use skill points on the “agenda” and play/simulate a game. There are five agenda items each week and you get to choose where you want to spend your time: academics, team building, recovery, training and socializing. Throughout the season, you'll receive text messages from media, coaches, teammates, classmates, academic advisors and companies. Your responses, some of which are risky, affect your skill points and create choose-your-own-adventure consequences.

In the middle of the season, I decided to have some fun, so I accepted a party invitation from a teammate, but then my coach found a picture of my party and took away my Coach Trust points. A local reporter asked about our loss and I blamed the team, which cost me leadership points. A classmate found answers to a test and I agreed to use them, raising my average - but the professor found out we cheated a week later and my average took a big hit. I accepted all NIL deals, which increased my connectivity but limited the number of points I had for other areas.
Perhaps a small glitch: The game said I hadn't completed “training” during the conference championship week, but training was not available. In option practice, a zone read handoff was a touchdown every time because the linebacker always overcommitted.
In the end, I made second-team All-Big Ten on a 7-6 team, and after a great season partying in Iowa City, I transferred to Michigan State. Just like in real life, you can switch every season. It's a fun game mode that doesn't take up too much of your time, and RTG players can be exported to Madden's Superstar mode.

The road to the College Football Playoff
A brand new game in CFB25 is 'Road to CFP'. In this game, this game acts as CFB25's competitive game. You choose a team to play as and earn ranking points by beating other players.
The goal is to climb to the top and make the college football playoffs. You can take a big team to make it easier, or you can represent your favorite school and do your best. If you play as a better team, you won't get as many points. Poorer teams give you more ranking points, which provides incentive not to abuse the best players.
